Bahamas

Recently I had the chance to visit the Bahamas. The people are friendly and the culture is beautiful. All though I stayed mainly at the resort, there was plenty to see. The beach was lovely and the entertainment was endless. There are an abundance of things to do. Snorkeling, kayaking, boat tours, shopping, scuba diving, and so much more.
Did you know that: Disney has its own private island in the Bahamas called Castaway Cay. It is located near Great Abaco Island and was formerly known as Gorda Cay. In 1997, The Walt Disney Company purchased a 99-year land lease for the cay from the Bahamian government, set to expire in 2096.
Did you know that the average temperature never usually drops below 60 degrees, that is what I'm talking about. It does get pretty hot there with the average high of almost 90 degrees, feels hotter than that due to the location of the Islands.
The Bahamas relies on tourism to generate most of its economic activity. Tourism as an industry not only accounts for over 60% of the Bahamian GDP, but provides jobs for more than half the country's workforce. The Bahamas attracted 5.8 million visitors in 2012, more than 70% of whom were cruise visitors. Just remember when you visit to have that passport ready and they drive on the opposite side of the road than most of us do. Below is a picture were I stayed.

Australia

Did you know that the name Australia comes from the Latin word Terra Australis, meaning southern land? Australia is one of the world's major mining countries. Nearly all the world's high-quality Opals are mined there. It is also a leading producer of coal, copper, gold, iron ore, manganese, nickel, silver, tin, titanium, tungsten, zinc, and zircon. Plus much more, that is incredible! Did you know that the platypus is only found in Australia? It is the only mammal in the world that hatches it young from eggs.  Kangaroos as we know are the symbol of Australia to people throughout the world. Kangaroos are impressive jumpers, they can reach the top speed of about 40 miles (65 kilometers) per hour. Each jump covers an average distance of about 13 feet (4 meters). Thant is impressive. Now you know a little about Australia, one of the places on my list to travel and see. Pictured below is the duck billed platypus, very interesting critter.
